Close friends become enemies on Judgment Day
It could be that fellow drug user looks very familiar even almost when using drugs together. They say:
"We share with each other if we get drugs and have fun together"
But the situation turned 100% when they were all arrested by the police, they blamed each other who first invited, dodged and accused each other who bought and presented the first drug.
Such is the situation of "close friends" in a world that is not built on "friendship because of God", it could be that they will be hostile to each other on Judgment Day. For example, they are very familiar in the world and are compact in a variety of activities and togetherness, but when the prayer time arrives, not one of them reminds them to pray first, finally they are all negligent about praying.
Familiar friends can be mutually hostile on Judgment Day. Allah says,
الْأَخِلَّاءُ يَوْمَئِذٍ بَعْضُهُمْ لِبَعْضٍ عَدُوٌّ إِلَّا الْمُتَّقِينَ
"Some of the best friends on that day became enemies to some other people except those who were cautious." (Surah Az-Zukhruf: 67)
Expert Tafsir At-Tabari explained,
المتخالون يوم القيامة الله في الدنيا, بعضهم لبعض عدوّ, يتبرأ بعضهم من بعض, الا الذين كانوا تخالّوا فيها على تقوى الله.
"People who are friendly to each other over immorality to Allah in the world, on the Day of Judgment will be mutually hostile to one another and mutually independent, except those who are friendly to each other on fear of Allah." (See Tafsir At-Tabari)
We should really look for good friends and let us not regret on the Day of Judgment as the word of God,
ويوم يعض الظالم على يديه يقول يا ليتني اتخذت مع الرسول سبيلا )27( يا ويلتى ليتني لم أتخذ فلانا خليلا )28( لقد أضلني عن الذكر بعد إذ جاءني وكان الشيطان للإنسان خذولا
"And (remember) the day (at that time) the wrongdoer bit his hands (ie: very sorry), while saying:" How wonderful (before) I took the road with the Apostle. Big accident for me; presumably I (first) did not make the Fulan (my) best friend. Indeed, he has led me astray from the Qur'an when the Qur'an came to me. "And the devil does not want to help humans." (Surat al-Furqan: 27-29)
We should always gather with godly people and be honest in their faith as the word of God,
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَكُونُوا مَعَ الصَّادِقِينَ
"O believers! Fear Allah, and be with those who are righteous (honest). "(Surat at-Tawbah: 119)
Always pay attention to who our friends are and have to choose friendships and friends who are the majority of time, we spend with them.
The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said,
الرَّجُلُ عَلَى دِينِ خَلِيلِهِ فَلْيَنْظُرْ أَحَدُكُمْ مَنْ يُخَالِلُ
"Someone is following the close friend (religion; tabiat; akhlaq). Therefore, one of you should pay attention to whom he made close friends. "(Narrated by Abu Dawud, Silsilah ash-Shahihah no. 927)
