Debt Habits Don't Calm and Insult

Debt-like habits make a person uneasy in his life and may even be insulted in the human eye. Moreover, the debt is apparently not used for things that are truly emergency, but only for fun or for tertiary needs only. Previously his life was safe and peaceful because of Qana'ah and accepted what Allah had sustained based on his efforts, but after he easily owed, his life was not calm and scared (terrorized) himself.

This situation is like the hadith of the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam, he said,

"Don't make you scared (terrorize) yourself even though before you were safe."

The Companions asked: "Is that O Messenger of Allah?"

The Prophet replied: "That is debt!" (Narrated by Ahmad, Silsilah Ash Shahihah no. 2420)

Someone who has a lot of debt is certainly not calm life. He is only happy for a moment when holding the money, after that he will feel uneasy because he still has a burden of responsibility. Not to mention he will be billed even chased by people who collect or chase moneylenders. He will also despise his position before man, he will be underestimated and have no dignity. He will be easily yelled at, humiliated and dropped his pride in front of people who owe.

This is the message from Umar bin Abdul Aziz, he said,

"I remind you not to owe, even though you feel difficulty, because in fact debt is a humiliation in the night of tribulation at night, leave it, your dignity and dignity will be saved, and you will still have glory in the midst of humans as long as you live. "(Umar bin Abdul Aziz Ma'alim Al Ishlah wa At Tajdid, 2/71)

People who have a debt habit will easily fall into the habit of lying and lying, often not fulfilling the mandate. It could be that he promised to pay off next month, but he lied and had no intention of paying off next month. When billed, it may be that he is lying "having no money" even though there is money to pay the debt. It could be that he also lied so that people do not collect debts, for example, they are sick, there are families who are sick or there are families who are deceased and other lies.

Consider the following hadith, where there is a person who asks the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam,

"Why do you often take refuge in God from debt?"

He answered,

"Indeed, if someone is in debt, then if he speaks he will lie and if he promises he will deny." (Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim)

Ibn Hajar Al-Atsqalani rahimahullah explained that this is the condition of the majority of people who like to owe. He said,

"The point is that such is the situation of people who like to owe in general." (Fathul Baari libni Hajar Al-Atsqalani)

Therefore, we are encouraged to read prayers to take refuge from indebtedness:

اللهم إني أعوذ بك من عذاب القبر, وأعوذ بك من فتنة المسيح الدجال, وأعوذ بك من فتنة المحيا وفتنة الممات, اللهم إني أعوذ بك من المأثم والمغرم

"O Allah, I take refuge in You from the tomb of the grave, I take refuge in you from the slander of the Messiah Ad-Dajjal, and I take refuge in You from living slander and dead slander. O Allah, truly I take refuge in You from sin and debt. "(Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim)

"O Allah, indeed I take refuge in you from anxiety and sadness, weak and lazy, haughty and timid, debt bondage and oppression of people." (Narrated by Bukhari (VII / 158) [no. 6363]. See Bukhari's history in Al -Fath (XI / 173))
