Elias Muslim Prophet Story

Elias Muslim Prophet Story

We capture it for Ilyas (good praise) among those who came later. (I.e.) prosperity is bestowed on Ilyas? (Surah ash-Shaffat: 129-130)

Prophet Ilyas As, is one of the Prophets among the 25 Prophets mentioned in the Qur'an. However, unlike many other Prophets, the story of the Prophet Ilyas was only discussed a little in the Qur'an, namely in the letter ash-Shaffat, verses 123-132, Allah SWT said:

"And indeed Elias was one of the apostles. (Remember) when he said to his people: ‘Why are you not cautious? Can you worship Ba'l and you leave the best of the Creator, (That is) the God of your Lord and the Lord of your previous fathers? ' from sin). And We captured it for Ilyas (good praise) among those who came later. (I.e.) prosperity is bestowed on Ilyas? Verily this is how We give back to those who do good. Indeed, he belongs to Our servants who believe. "

From the verses of the Koran above, we can know a little, that he was a messenger of Allah SWT to one people who caused idols named Ba'l. The Prophet Ilyas called on the path of Allah SWT and invited his people but his people ignored it. They tend to Ba'l.

Some information states that the people in question are the Children of Israel. But there is also other information that states that he was sent to the residents of Baalbek, who are now in Lebanese territory. [1] Even so there was an agreement regarding time, that he was sent after Prophet Musa As. This information was corroborated by the Gospel of Barnabas which contained quite a lot of his advice, which often linked the advice with Musa As. The people of the Prophet Elias, before following the call of the Prophet Musa, but after his death, these people returned astray and worshiped idols. So the prophet Elijah brought to this people to invite them to worship Allah SWT, the best of the Creator. (That is) the God of your Lord and the Lord of your previous fathers? '(Surat ash-Shaffat: 126)

Prophet Ilyas As in the Gospel of Barnabas

In addition to the Al-Quran, information about the Prophet Ilyas As is also found in the Gospel of Barnabas. In the Gospel of Barnabas the Prophet Ilyas As is called by the name Ilya. He often gives advice to his people, which is presented with full tenderness and sincerity, so that it contains deep wisdom from each sentence. Following is the advice mentioned in the Gospel of Barnabas from verses 23 to 49: [2]

"Ilyas is a servant of God. This is written for all those who want to walk with their Creator God. Indeed, people who like to learn a lot will be a little afraid of God.

Because people who fear God, they will feel satisfied to know what God wants. Let those who want to do righteous deeds pay attention to themselves because someone will not benefit when they find it
the world gains while he loses.

Next, let the person who teaches other people try to be better than others because it will not be useful for advice given by people who do not practice what they say. Because, how a wrong person can improve his life while he hears someone worse than him trying to teach him.

Then let those who seek God try to run away from conversations with humans, because Moses when alone on Mount Sinai 'he found God and dialogue with Him as a lover dialogue with his lover. And let those who seek God try to get out once every thirty times to a place that is usually used as a gathering by the world community.

Because he may be able to do a charity on a single day but calculated his charity for two years, especially with regard to work where he seeks the pleasure of Allah. Let him speak when he does not look in any direction except towards his two legs, and when he speaks, let him say the important thing. When he eats not stand from the table in a state of satiety.

And let them think every day because they might not meet the next day. And let them really take advantage of their time as they always breathe. One garment of animal skin should be enough for them. They should try every night to sleep no more than two hours. Let them try to stand in the midst of prayer with fear.

Do all this in order to serve Allah by upholding His Shari'a which Allah has given you through Moses. Because in this way, you will find God and you will feel in every age and place that you are under the auspices of Allah and He will always be with you. "
